About Coach

Mike is originally from Upstate New York (Binghamton area) and has always had a passion for athletics and fitness. Soon after starting an undergraduate degree focused on music at SUNY Fredonia, his interest in reaching this endpoint quickly dwindled. As a lifelong soccer player, it was the obvious choice to pursue a career in health and fitness when he decided to change paths. Beginning at the end of high school, Mike had grown to love weight lifting as a means of complementing sports competition but also understood and valued what it brought to the function of daily life. Before relocating to the DMV area, Mike completed a master's Degree focused on Applied Nutrition to supplement the Exercise Science degree he achieved at SUNY Fredonia. For the 7 years prior to joining the Bodymass team, Mike supported military members, their families, and other government workers in their health and wellness pursuits at the Fort Meade Army Wellness Center. He learned a great deal about exercise programming, fitness testing, stress management, body composition testing, and health coaching in the process and worked with thousands of individuals. Some of Mike’s favorite things include craft coffee and beer, Mexican and Indian food, playing competitive sports, watching sci-fi and fantasy TV shows, and playing video games. Mike currently does a little of everything at Bodymass Gym in both Arlington and DC, including small group BUILD and semi-private classes, personal training, body composition and metabolic rate testing, and nutrition coaching, including corresponding services such as macronutrient breakdowns. You’re most likely to find Mike at the DC location for small group BUILD classes.
